Toddlers learn by exploring the world around them through their senses. Our toddler program is designed to enhance development through songs, stories, art, finger plays, and age-appropriate toys that encourage imagination and self-directed play. Our caring professionals provide love and security in a safe, nurturing environment.

Meet The Teachers

Mrs. Anette Johansson
Older Toddler Lead Teacher (Staff Member Since 2004)

Anette Johansson is the Older Toddler Teacher at Christian Child Center. Anette was born in Sweden. She moved to Florida in 1996 with her husband Leif and their 2-year-old daughter. They settled in Longwood and Anette stayed at home to raise their three children, two daughters and a son. When Anette’s youngest child was enrolled in Pre-K at CCC, she was asked to join the staff. Anette loves teaching the Older Toddler age group and is celebrating her fourteenth year as the lead of that class.

Mrs. Julie Begey
Young Toddler Lead Teacher (Staff Member Since 2011)

Julie Begey is the Young Toddler Teacher at Christian Child Center. Julie is originally from Colorado where she lived until she was 13. She then spent 3 1/2 years living on Oahu in Hawaii before moving to Ft. Lauderdale, FL before her senior year of high school. Julie attended the University of Central Florida where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Radio and Television. While working at Epcot, she met the love of her life, Dan. They were married at Wekiva Presbyterian Church 20 years ago where they are active members and are raising two daughters. After looking at preschools in the DeBary area where she lives, Julie decided she was willing to make the 20 minute drive to CCC for her two girls because she found nothing that could compare to it. She worked as a substitute for a year and then joined the staff eleven years ago in the Young Toddler class. She loves watching her young toddlers grow and change throughout the year.

Mrs. Christine DeBow
Older Toddler/Young Toddler Assistant (Staff Member Since 2019)

Christine DeBow is the Older Toddler Assistant at Christian Child Center. Christine lives in Orlando with her husband James and their four-year-old son, Hunter, who attends CCC. They spend much of their family time with their three dogs and five cats. Christine is overjoyed to be a part of such an amazing and caring school. She looks forward to building strong bonds with all of the Toddlers.

Mrs. Saati Shields
Young Toddler/2's Assistant (Staff Member Since 2018)

Saati Shields is an Assistant in the Young Toddler and Two's classes at Christian Child Center. Saati grew up in Long Island, NY. She attended Fordham University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. Saati worked as a purchasing manager for a pharmaceutical company for several years before moving to Florida with her husband and two children in 2016. In Florida, Saati is able to be closer to the grandparents and enjoy family life. Saati is a member of Annunciation Catholic Church and the St. Anne's Ministry of Moms. She joined the ministry to meet and connect with other moms of faith. Saati enrolled her son at CCC and because of the wonderful school environment, she decided to join the CCC staff. She earned her CDA (Child Development Associate Credential) from Seminole State College in 2020. Saati is happy to be a part of the CCC community to create a great experience for her students. She hopes to be a part of that same blessing for other families.

Mrs. Bette Burnett
Older Toddler Assistant (Staff Member Since 1999)

Bette Burnett is an Assistant in the Older Toddler class at Christian Child Center. Bette was born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. After high school and college, she worked for a large chemical company in Wilmington. After the birth of her first son, Bette became a stay-at-home mom. In 1982, her husband was transferred to Longwood, and Bette became a member of Wekiva Presbyterian church. Her two sons attended CCC and Bette served on the CCC board. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years, and then began working at Christian Child Center 23 years ago. Bette’s sons are grown now, but no grandchildren yet, so Bette gets her “baby fix” at CCC. Bette enjoys working with a great group of teachers and is glad to be a part of a program that provides such a wonderful service to the community.
